CAMP FREDDY To Play One-Off Show In Hollywood
October 15, 2003CAMP FREDDY, the Los Angeles-based "jam" band consisting of JANE'S ADDICTION guitarist Dave Navarro, former THE CULT touring bassist Billy Morrison (on guitar),ex-GUNS N' ROSES/THE CULT drummer Matt Sorum, bassist Scott Ford, and vocalist Donovan Leitch (the son of 1960s U.K. folk-rock icon Donovan),will be playing a one-off show on November 15 at the Avalon Theatre (the revamped and re-opened Palace) in Hollywood. The show is being put on by Vanity Fair magazine and is in aid of the women's charity Step Up.
Says Billy: "As the Lollapalooza show ended up being cancelled at the last minute, we are all really looking forward to playing this show. We don't play very often, but when we do, we always get some pretty amazing guests on stage with us. And the list we have for this show is awesome. As Dave is pretty much solid with JANE'S ADDICTION, Matt is now full on with VELVET REVOLVER, and I am completely tied up with DOHENY, I doubt that CAMP FREDDY will be playing again in the near future. So if you live near enough to catch this show, I would advise you to go. I can promise you a night to remember."
As previously reported, CAMP FREDDY have signed a deal with Sanctuary Records and will begin recording their debut album next month. Mike Clink (GUNS N' ROSES, METALLICA) will produce the album, which is expected to include guest appearances by Macy Gray, Perry Farrell, Kelly Osbourne and former GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Slash. In addition to the CD, which is due in the spring, a DVD documenting the recording sessions is planned for release sometime next year.
